Does anyone know of any traditional Roman Catholic churches in the Dale Hollow Lake (TN/KY) area? Thanks.

Joan:

You probably need to give your definition of what is a "traditional" Catholic Church. Are you looking for one in which masses are still said in Latin? Where confession is not an option? Where people still wear their 'Sunday-best' and women cover with head? Where birth control is not a personal matter of conscience?

I rather doubt you will find something like this within an hour's drive of Dale Hollow Lake. Traditional churches are more likely in a fairly large city where the number of parishes can allow for some to be diversified.

Joan-If you are looking for a church with Tridentine Mass, the only one I could find on a web search was in Memphis,Tn. There were none listed for Kentucky. Last summer we were on vacation in this area of Kentucky, and we went to Mass at a small Catholic Church in Burkesville. Even in this area of OH where there are Catholic Churches every few miles, the only place to attend a Tridentine Mass is in Toledo and then it is only offered once a month. Good luck with your search.

Joan, When I get back to work on Monday I will look up the diocese that covers your area and see if there are any traditional churches/masses listed for around there. But Ken is right usually you will only find traditional around the bigger cities, but there are some churches that will offer a traditional mass once a week or mth. with a rent-a-priest,as several of them do here in Michigan.

Joan, The only one that might have one or maybe tell you where one is for your area, is St.Thomas Aquinas in Cookeville,Tenn. 615-526- 2575.

Joan, did you locate a Latin Mass in the Dale Hollow area? I would be highly interested also. The only 3 that I'm aware of in TN are a Fraternity Mass in Memphis, a St. Pius X in Franklin,( south side of Nashville) and a Priory of St John chapel in Bentonville.
