I have been very involved in both the dairy and meat goat organizations in VA/NC and am not familiar with anyone who breeds Cashmeres. Thats not to say that there isn't anyone out there though. I looked at my club directories and breeder lists but did not see any. I would suggest joining the cashmere talk list at yahoogroups if there is one. if not then try subscribing to goatads or goatmarket, both are great for getting information, or do a search on chasmeres. Also, www.cybergoat.com is really helpful and there ar elots of breeders listed there. Goat Kingdom is another site, don't have addy handy but it comes up on a search. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Ok its my understanding that any breed of goat can produce cashmere, In the pygoras the fleece is a, b, or c. a for mohair, b for combination and c for cashmere. My daughters nigerian produces a fine under down which looks and feels just like cashmere.Ok guys is my info wrong?

Check out Cash Mirror magazine on the web.

www.teleport.com/~goatknol/

It's the Cashmere Goat Magazine and has a breeders list.

You can also check out the local livestock auctions because they turn up there once in a while, especially if it's an 'exotics' auction.

I too want to get into Cashmere goats but can't find a breeder in my area (southern Ontario). I'm also not sure I can find a reliable market - I'm still researching. You need an awful lot of cashmere before you've got enough for a sweater.
