Farm Toys

Does anyone know where to find "farm type" toys for children? I am in search of a toy barn with farm animals suitable for a small child. I looked at the Fisher Price one but I am looking for something more realistic. I have already checked all the usual sources like Walmart and K-Mart. I checked at the farm supply store and they are out. I remember getting my son bags of plastic farm animals but that was a long time ago. Is there a catalog or web-site maybe? Thanks so much.

Your local farm coop (or maybe not so local) and Tractor Supply store.

You might try the NASCO farm and ranch catalogue. They are online although I don't have the link---just put it in any search engine and it ought to come up.

Quality Farm and Fleet stores always carry them around here, they go by different names in different places though, I think that Tractor Suppy is one of them.

Our Toys R Us had bags of plastic farm animals still available, a little cheaper looking than when we were kids, but still decent enough for children's play toys.

Breyer Horses has a barn, tack and collectable horses but they are expensive. Sold in horse tack shops and horse cataloges.

Thanks to all of you. I have checked my local farm store and they are out of them. I will look at the farm stores and the John Deer place in the surrounding counties. I really want to find this. Thanks again...

A.C. Moore craft stores have Animal Toobs--all horses or farm animals or ocean animals etc. They are under $5 for many in a pack. They are on-line as well.

Oh, yeah, my local independent toy dealer stocks this great toy for young ones (under 5 yrs.). It is by "Magnetivity" and is a metal book/box with scenes inside and out. Inside you store all the pieces. So one is a barn and farm scene and has chicks and cat and dog and horse and ducks and farmer man and woman, etc. Very easy to use pieces. Good car game. Easy to store. Magnets are such that the woman can hold the chicken. Very fun. I couldn't put it down!

Check for the closest Zany Brainy store. This store specializes in educational toys & games. I've found a hard rubber type of animals in more then one size (zoo gift shops also carry animals that are made of the same material). These animals (both domestic & wild types) have lots of detail to the features, & the material is very strong (as babies, my kids use to teath on one or two critters in particular & to this day you still can't see any teeth marks in them)(them again, my kids never chewed very much on anything). You will have to pay for individual animals but I thought the quality made up for any difference in price.

Good luck

I don't know if you have Peavey Mart in the states or not but if you do they carry a whole line of farm sets that are very realistic.
