We have an aracona (? spelling) and she is only about 1 yr old if that. She was laying earlier earlier in the year and from the time she was about 16 weeks old but now has not laid an egg in about 3 months. What is the problem? She acts normal and the other varieties have not changed their laying habits.

Terry, Don't know what part of the country you are in, but here in Colorado, mine don't lay in the winter AT ALL, but the other hens do. Can't explain it, just that when it warms up, and the daylight lenghtens, they start laying again. Jan

Aren't they a central American bird? Used to more daylight. Length of day is what triggers ovulation in many animals. Do you have supplemental light in your chicken house?

Check the flight feathers. She may be a really, REALLY slow moulter. I had one like that once.

Mine finally started laying three months later than my other chicks and even tho there are five of them I'm still getting only two gree-blue eggs and one brown-pink egg from them every day. I don't know if some of them are laying every other day or if only three of them are laying...

They act, eat, and lay completely differently than my other chicks! They are interesting tho and nothing can compare with the look on a grandkids face when they pull that first colored egg out of a nesting box!
