oooh Look what I found, Canadians!

Its a Canadian rural life site called Rural Living Canada. Lots of info and links for those of us who choose to live in the country, even some homesteadeing stuff! I was tickled pink when I came across it and thought I'd pass it on for other Canadian (or any!!) homesteaders out there. http://rural.mybravenet.com

Cool site! I'm planning on exploring a little more later -- got it marked for my "Favorites" -- but on first viewing it looks pretty good! Thanks, Alison!

Question: Can an American citizen "own" property in Canada or is it like Mexico where the state owns the land but "leases" to individuals? I know in a previous post someone mentioned Canadian land was for sell and I liked the price. I just don't have a clue as to what is involved in purchasing land in another country as far as the law is concerned, taxes, etc..

Thanks for posting. I and a cousin own some land in Newfoundland. It was where our fathers grew up. I just love the province and all of Canada. The property does not have a house on it anymore. My dream is someday putting a camper or small mobile home on it for summer vacations. It is in the town of Harcourt in Trinity Bay on the ocean. Just beautiful. And yes my cousin and I are US citizens and we own land up there. It was inherited but I don't think that makes any difference.

You're welcome, Tracy. I was pretty excited when I found it. Lots of country living links. As for Americans owning Canadian properties, I am pretty sure it happens alot but I am not sure of the specifics. Where I live there are alot of properties owned by Europeans too.
