Response to cream separator

Adel, a cream separator is a pain to clean for only one cow. Have you tried letting the milk set for a day or two, and skimming the cream off the top with a ladle? We did it that way for years, and it works just fine.

However, if you are bound and determined to have one, I know someone who has one for sale, if you are close to New Hampshire -- they are a bit heavy to ship. Let me know.

Response to cream separator

Adel, we have always just strained our milk into those gallon glass jars. After afew hours or overnight you can see the cream and skim it off with a soup ladle. Most restaurants will gladly save afew jars if you ask. Another option is those tea jars they sell with the spigot-get your milk off the bottom easily!

Cumberland General Store (800-334-4640 or www.cumberlandgeneral.com) has a model imported from Russia for $226.00. Hand-cranked. Don't know current price.
