Retreat next Summer?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : St Dominic's Encounter : One Thread

Hi guys, I am in touch with St Dominic's Retreat Centre, in Montenotte, Cork and they want me to give them some time this Summer. I have agreed on the basis that the retreat is pitched to a whole new clientele and is tailored for the purpose. Lucinda, the secretary there, has agreed to book me in for a retreat from August 6th (evening time) to August 8th (lunch time). I suggested that we aim for professional types (you know who you are!!!!) and advertise there like BillyO. I suggested that less a shorter time-span would allow people to devote a little holiday time to spiritual endeavour without sacrificing a whole week. A short time would also demand more focussed and probably intense work on the part of the retreat director(s) to provide really good quality service while the retreatants are there. Then I asked her if I could bring a team and she said most certainly yes. Whaddya think? As a team, are yous interested? By the way, the pay is pretty crap!

We are very flattered that you consider us as being Professional People.. (a real ego boost)!!!!!!!!!!!

August does sound good as it gives us lots of time to plan and organise and the time span is good.

Does that mean we can celebrate St Dominics Day together too ?

Bye

To start with re Ray, Paula and Aisling's mails, two points: (1) When is St. Dominic's Feast Day? (2) I AM a professional person.

I know they sound like to two strange statements especially together, but they perhaps illustrate what different backgrounds and areas of knowledge people in this group have. Another example is that some of us are Religious, some religious, while others don't go to mass but instead are focused on finding who God is, and how to interact with Him/Her. Personally I think it's a wonderful mix!

After all that I just want to say that the Retreat date sounds good: and I'm already excited and nervous!

I think those dates are great as they are right after the bank hol (5th) - those not on hols anyway will be starting the retreat relaxed and chilled out (hopefully!) after a long week-end

Joe, I know this is miles after you posted your question but the Feast of St Dominic is celebrated on August 8th. I want to correct the finishing date of the retreat. The retreat I have organised will begin August 6th and end August 9th!!!!! (My mistake)

Another place some might like to visit is the website for the Dominican Order at http://www.op.org/english/ I hope to gather some reading material for our group around Dominican Spirituality and Formation this weekend. If anyone has any questions or requests, maybe here is the format, n'est-ce pas?

Hi I'm afraid to say that I don't think I will be able to make it to the retreat in August!! Some of the school staff asked for a 'retreat' for themselves, probably coming up to Easter - anyone interested. It will most likely be at the week-end.
