CONEX Box Storage

I would like to use a CONEX box (8'x32" or 40')for construction material and tool storage at a very remote site. Does anyone know the approximate cost of a used box?

I see these advertised in the Little Nickel classified ads. My recollection is they are not cheap. I think I've seen prices over $1000.

Out here in New Mexico $3,000.00 is the tune. I've found them as cheap as $1,500.00 in Huston area, but the buger-boo is about $1,000 to $1,500 to get it out to me in New Mexico... can't win!!!

They also come in various grades out here, "Raw" is as is where is, but is water and vermin tight. Then they rehabilitate them with new flooring and highersecurity locks and doors at both ends and pain and on and on...to the tune of $4,500 and up.

Still, at a little over $9.00 a square foot for water and vermin tight it may just be a "good" deal.. I'm still trying to beat the local $3,000 makr though.

Stan, I have found a place or two on the WEB that sell sea/land containers in Arizona, but have not contacted then as it is the weekend. What kind of dealer would have/sell old tractor trailers?

contact a LARGE trucking Company,, ther determine if a trailer is worth fixing or not,, somtimes , its just a matter of rewireing the lights,, NOt worth the time to keep it off the road,, buy a new one, and be up tomarrow. If they wont/cant sell it to you,, they would sell to a resaler, wholesaler,, might also try a small indenpandant company, though I would guess those are in worse condition. I geta monthly magazine with used equipment in it,, think one should be coming next week or so,, its from all over the US,, when I get it,,ILl let you know

I Too am looking/searching the countryside for a few Conex box's for an ol' gold mine in Eastern Oregon. Want to store a bunch of stuff and have it secured while I'm gone. The bigger the better and jusssst really don't know the best place to acquire them. I'm a contractor and can usually come up with just about anything. Don't want to rent like I've done in past. I'll keep you posted when I find some. Good luck! Mark
