greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

We have started our homestead, but due to an injury we have to sell. WE have 8 acres up by the Canadian Border. Our property is surrounded by National Forest, but has maintained County road access. The barn is up with a fenced area. There is a 33' travel trailer with a 12 x 16 addition. We are asking 3,000 down and take over payments of 300.00 a month. There is a balance of 21,000 that will be paid off in 9 years. We are negotiable. Please contact us for more info: George or Leslie Bachner

Boy, if I'd known about that last week, I probably would have jumped on it... was up there visiting in Spokane; hiked around northern Priest Lake area. What a beautiful part of the country, Leslie! And had my first taste of huckleberry cobbler, mmmm. But, I'm afraid I'd miss my 'cultural diversity' down here in NM, AND good Mexican food. No such thing up in your neck o' the woods. Good luck to you, I can imagine it must be a pretty piece of property. dh in nm

I am sorry for the delay in the response. I have to use the internet at the library and have to work it around trips into Bonners Ferry.

The land is 8 acres, completely square. There are about 3 1/2 to 4 acres on the flat and the rest is on a hill. There are several building sites on the hill as well as the flat. The travel trailer is 33 feet long and not glamourous, but servicable. The propane fridge works, which for us was a big deal. Power is available at the corner of the property. Bonners Ferry is a great community. The people are friendly and I feel more at home here than anywhere we have lived. There are all kinds here and so you can fit however you do or dont want to. We get our water (as a lot of people here do) at the fairgrounds. It costs us a quarter for 350 gallons of water. The add on has a wood stove and some pipe, but you would have to finish putting it in. We are using a deerborne heater because of my husbands back injury (which is why we are leaving), but the stove should work well. The land was logged last year and pretty heavily. There are still lots of trees though. The railroad clips one corner of the property. We don't even notice it anymore. We can hear the Moyie river running most of the year which is right on the other side of the tracks. We have lots of privacy, yet good access (another big deal for us). There are some slash piles that need to be burned and then you get $500 back from the Id dept of lands. We were trying to pull as much firewood out of the piles as possible. There are no ammenities, just lots of potential. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email or call @ 208- 267-9151.
