Ford 3400 Industrial tractor-Anyone know about them?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have been looking for a tractor for quite some time now and came across a Ford 3400 Industrial (which seems to mean 'yellow Ford' instead of 'blue Ford'). It has a front end loader, live PTO, PS & 3 point hitch for $5,000. The condition is average at best but everything seems to work as it should. I'm told it's a 48HP PTO, which is about what I'd like but hard to believe with a 3 cyl. gas engine. I've checked a couple online sources for tractor values but, since this is an industrial model it's not listed on those ag sites. Does anyone know anything about this model or have any idea as to it's value? Thanks for any help you can offer.

There are some web sites listed in the old answers under farm equipment for when this subject came up a few months ago. The price is pretty clost to average if the tractor is ready to work.

Mitch,

I've tried those sites but they are all for 'agricultural' tractors as opposed to 'industrial' tractors. Subsequent to posting this question I contacted someone at my local Ford/New Holland tractor dealership and was told the price was probably just OK but that they believed the PTO HP to be no more than 42 and possibly even less and that they doubted the PTO was live. If that were the case, they said, the value would drop by $1,000. To me, without a live PTO, it's not something I want at virtually any price.

I owned this same tractor for about 8 yrs.The horse power is closer to 35 or 40 hp.It is very difficult to to remove theloader assembly. The loader assembly had to be droped to changes the belts.Mine needed some Repairs (Pto clutch, radiator leak and grease seal) A dealer allowed me $4000. for it on a new Long Diesel 49 HP.Best trade I ever made . I will answer any questions you might have. Jay in NC
