Need home near Springfield, MO

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am moving from Germany to the Springfield, MO area in the next few weeks. If anyone knows of a home to rent where I can have my horse and goats, I would appreciate information about it. We expect to be in Springfield on the 4th or 5th of October. Our family consists of my wife and I and three children, ages 14-21. Once we get settled and know more about the area, we plan to buy a home again.

Go do a search like Yahoo or whatever you like and type in Springfield Missouri, after you bring up the page click on news and media and the local news papers will come up. Most of the time they have there classifieds on the net. I live about 2 hrs east of Springfield. You will have lots of countryside friends because alot of us are from the Ozarks. You might want to run a add about boarding your pets at somones place till you find a place of your own. Can you bring livestock from Germany and other countrys? I have heard of people taking dogs and cats back and forth but I never have thought of a horse. Can you fly them on a plane. Haha I know this might sound like a funny question but I did not know people took animals that big back and forth

Well, Teresa, I know some people personally who flew a planeload of dairy cows from America over to Hungary, to start a high-grade dairy. From what I understood, that was quite a trip, and quite a smell by the end of the journey. lol

ROFLOL I wonder if they get air sick. And also you know how they move around, I wonder if it is hard on the guy flying the plane? I thought the horse trailer was a handful LOL

Sounds like fun for the pilot and crew, but my horse and goats are in Mississippi. That is where we were when we went to Germany. I still have to figure out how to get them to Springfield. I haven't been able to find anywhere on the net to rent a trailer, or find an inexpensive one to buy. Worst case, I can borrow one from a friend in MS, but then I have to make the trip twice to return it. I'm sure it will be easier to find once I am in the area. You can't really appreciate the US of A until you have been somewhere without the freedoms we have.
