Grape Juice cooker

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Last week we made grape juice using a multi level cooker/steamer. We borrowed the item from a friend who bought it many years ago from Gurneys (who is now bankrupt). The item was a three level cooker with a pot on the bottom for water, a pot in the middle to catch the grape 'drippings' and a strainer on top to hold the grapes. Then it had a rubber hose that was used to draw off the juice as it was steamed out of the grapes. My question is does anyone know where one of these cookers can be purchased? It really did save alot of time. We did over 6 gallons of juice in an afternoon.

I believe I have seen this cooker/steamer in the Lehmans catalog.

Yes, both Lehman's and Cumberland General Store carry them. They are called steam-process juicers. Lehman's is cheaper than Cumberland.
