Response to strawbeerie shortcake

No expert here Bobco, I just rinse well, cut up with a sharp knife, put in a glass bowl and add a bit of sugar to taste. while this is chilling I bake the "shortcakes". You are making me hungry! LOL

Bob, I always slice mine. Add sugar, stir. While it sets, it will make its own juice. If you want them juiceyer(is that a word?). you could use the food processor. Pulse just a few times. Good luck.

There's one rule of thumb with strawberries Bobco, if they are ripe, you don't have to do anything other than cut the top off (the green part) and stir in a bit of sugar, I use honey instead, as it is already dissolved and makes excellent juice in the berries. If the are not fully ripe, you had better slice them in quarters so the sugar or honey can more easily sweeten them to get some taste. Start with just a little sweetner and taste, add more if necessary, doesn't take as much as you think.

Bob, you silly guy you! You invite a lady friend over for shortcake and let HER fix 'em up! I use a potato masher myself - one that looks like hardware cloth on the bottom - after I sprinkle some sugar on them and let them set for a 1/2 hour or so after cleaning.

Now, what I want to know is - how do you make your shortcake?

Hey, bobco, you know those handy-dandy little egg slicers? They are hinged. One side is plastic, and has a depression the shape of an egg. The other side is metal, and slightly rectangular, and has wires strung across like a harp.

I use the metal "harp" side to push strawberries through. It slices them real fancy schmancy. Just toss the slices with sugar and allow them to sit for about an hour. (If you can stand waiting that long.)
