HP drivers to run old printer on Windows 2000

greenspun.com : LUSENET : What keeps you up at night? : One Thread

I have a beloved 4P LaserJet printer that's several years old. I just bought a new computer with Windows 2000 Professional and I can't find any printer drivers that work. I downloaded and installed some from the HP site and when I try to print a test page, the printer light blinks-- indicating it HAS received a signal from my computer--but it doesn't print. I've looked everywhere for active HP users groups, to no avail. Any ideas? Thanks, --Jan Jasper

HP has many printers, scanners and Multi-Function devices that DO NOT WORK with Windows 2000, and now, XP. HP has very weak support, inaccurate information on their Website, they post drivers that do not work...basically seems to me that they are saying, buy a new printer!!! Well, it sure won't be an HP product!!!!!!
