Question: Just how many handles does cpr write under?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

OK, being new here, I admit I must seem pretty slow to "get it" about soooo many things, having missed out on all the Y2K stuff. And I still have a hard time figuring out whos-who when it comes to all the names, though I'm getting better (North=evildooer Seditionist, Reuben=God). But there is one thing that I just have recently discovered, and am trying to figure out: Why would one person (cpr) use so many different handles? And what do the names of the handles signify?

On another board topic, it was revealed by Nick Osborn that cpr was also posting under the handle "Loon". Interesting; I assumed that cpr and Loon were two different peop... uh ... two different lifeforms. Nope, turns out that "everyone" sorta knows that cpr=Loon.

On that same board topic, someone using the handle "Confused" was also debating with Nick. cpr, of course, had to jump into the foray, and said the following:

It is not his Sr. Year in H.S. Unlike "Matt, the College Boy" and fan of Coreeee Pee in DeeeCee, neither TK or Concerned can string 2 facts together into a thought. All they can do is toss out the same cries of "nuttiness" re: Thought Contagions or indulge in name calling and smearing.

In the latter case, they have come to the right place. We give Graduate Courses in such things.

LOLOLOLOL

-- cpr (buytexas@hotmail.com), August 15, 2001

Note that cpr made a mistake, referring to the other person who was debating with Nick as "Concerned" rather than "Confused". (I.e., cpr got confused.)

Then, someone who might be considered as the Nun From Hell starts a board topic as follows:

All the bs in one place for those who need to refresh their Y2k Skills. Calling TK and Concerned. (Sister Catherine, SisKat@nineTails.orgy, 2001-08-15)

Gee, how interesting. The good Sister also misread the name "Confused" as instead being "Concerned".

OK folks, so what does this imply?

..."Sister Catherine" is yet another alias for cpr=Loon...

Now, I am no Doctor (unlike Doc Paulie, of course), but one cannot help but wonder exactly what drove cpr to choose such an interesting alternate handle (if not an alternate lifestyle).

Like I said, I'm pretty new here, trying to learn what I can during my lunch hours and slack periods at work, so could someone give me the lowdown on just what is going on with:

Charles Reuben=cpr=Loon=Sister Catherine=?...

Answers

I can't speak for cpr's motives, but the alternative handles he chooses are mostly obvious if you know his posting style. Generally, he'll choose a handle that fits the subject he is posting.

"Concerned" was an anonymous doomer during the Y2K fights. Possibly, cpr got confused, or possibly he believes "Confused" and "Concerned" are the same person.

What difference does it make HEVE??

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2001

Forgot. Here you go TwitKrapper: I will just keep posting this until I get a suitable answer.

BEFORE THIS GOES ANY FURTHER : DEFINE THE "thought contagionation nuttiness,".DEFINE "MEME".....I don't mean just dismiss it as you do here. DEFINE IT AND SPECIFICALLY TELL US WHY IT IS "nuttiness". FORGET THE SURFACE TREATMENT BS YOU TRY TO GET AWAY WITH. IN FACT, I CLAIM YOU DON"T KNOW THE FIRST THING YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT. PERIOD.

You may be right about "Confused"; only "Confused" knows for sure what his motives are. But, so far, the only pre-rollover debunker arguments that I have seen are heavy on the profanity and thought contagionation nuttiness, and rather light on facts.

TK:

I have been here for a long time. I would recognize Charles if he posted as Dennis Olson. The thing is: He usually provides information and not just emotion. With the data, you can make your own decision.

Best Wishes,,,,

With the data, you can make your own decision.

Assuming that you know what to do with the data. Let's try this: a multiple choice test!...

Q1: You have a question regarding a computer bug. You would ask:

a) A computer scientist.
b) A baker.
c) A realtor.

Q2: You have a question regarding human thought processes. You would ask:

a) A behavioral scientist.
b) A taxi driver.
c) A realtor.

Q3: You have a question regarding selling your house. You would ask:
a) A doctor.
b) A movie star.
c) A realtor.

Answers tomorrow! Have a good day, everyone...

If the Realtor had 2 Degrees in Hard Science and had business experience for over 30 years, had published White Papers and knew the subject he was writing about better than SO-CALLED "EXPERTS" in a field, who would you ask? Do you have an ANAL HATRED of Realtors(R)? There are 12 Members of Congress who are members of NAR. Do they know NOTHING? While it is true that I view Congressmen as a lower species than BUSINESS PEOPLE not all hold my views. MEANWHILE...........ANSWER THE QUESTION..WHAT IS A "MEME"? I will just keep posting this until I get a suitable answer.

TK:

Answer is none of the above and certainly not you.

One takes information from a variety of sources and then makes a decision.

Many people post with no information; even personal experience. I ignore them. You are going to need development in your analytical skills. *<)))

Best Wishes,,,,

"HEVE"?

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2001

Heve Less than Stellar.

-- Anonymous, August 15, 2001

Maybe CPR is so brilliant that one handle can't hold it all. It would implode. :)

he only pre-rollover debunker arguments that I have seen are heavy on the profanity and thought contagionation nuttiness, and rather light on facts.

Then you surely have not been looking in all the right places.

TinKerbell you are aware you are fucking with a Marine, are you not?

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2001

Sorry, Z, you flunked the quiz. Let's try and analyze where you went wrong.

First, you need to recognize that you can have great analytical skills, but without having the knowledge of the subject that you are attempting to apply them, they can still let you down. That is why we have people who specialize, who worked hard to attain their credentials, so that they can speak with authority on subjects. These are the people who need to be consulted when you want to find out about something, not the Internet Peanut Gallery of Buffoons.

Z, do you remember when you jumped to the conclusion that I was "Ken Decker", with absolutely no evidence whatsoever? You based this only on what other people on this board were saying. Now, I'm sure some nutball (one or two in particular) would cite this as proof that you were under the influence of a "meme", but hopefully you can see how ludicrous that BS is, and that you are willing to take responsibility for your own actions. You, Sir, failed to apply the very analytical skills you are talking about, and ended up with a wrong, wrong, wrong conclusion!

OK! Let's try the test again. Remember the concept: Go to someone who knows what they are talking about when you need information about something. This one is a little harder, now -- good luck, Sir!

Q1: You have a question regarding a computer bug. You would ask:

a) A computer scientist.
b) A baker.
c) A realtor with two degrees in a hard science.

Q2: You have a question regarding human thought processes. You would ask:

a) A behavioral scientist.
b) A taxi driver.
c) A realtor who also goes by the name of "Loon".

Q3: You have a question regarding selling your house. You would ask:

a) A doctor.
b) A movie star.
c) A realtor who likes to cross-dress as a nun named "Sister Catherine", and be a dominatrix at sex orgies.

Millions did go to Specialists. What they found overwhelmingly was "we are not sure on Y2k".

What you need to understand is Y2k resulted in great part from having far TOO MANY Specialists and not enough Common Sense folks running IT departments. Myopic worker-bees making predictions in areas they have not a clue. Truth is, these geeks so lacking even in their own supposed specialized area, they were unable to even call things correct with items right under their noses.

This is not to let non-geeks off the hook. They as well tossed common sense to the wind and bought into the fears. The advice this TK ignoramus is now preaching as some road to the holyland. BILLIONS were flushed following TK's advice.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2001

Fact is, this here NON_IT person was able to set-up and run a webboard which had over a million and a half visits in 5 months, predict a full year ahead of time Y2k would be a complete and utter bellyflop, and stand as the ONLY person in the debate telling the world Y2k was not a COMMON_MODE_FAILURE even in isolated systems let alone on some societal level.

So much for experts.

Doc, you have no idea what you are talking about. You and the "debunkers" placed a bar bet that Y2K would turn out to be nothing, and got lucky. The rest of the world (excepting the wackos that expected the end of the world to occur) simply did what I did: Trusted that the folks who knew about this stuff would be on the job, taking care of it. "Oh, but they spent too much money!!!" Maybe, maybe not. I don't know that; you sure don't.

cpr, I'll make a deal with you. You cough up the name of every other handle you use here, and explain why you chose those particular names, and I'll answer you. That's the deal. (And I suspect that we will see that 40% of the goofy "people" we have here can be traced to just one: cpr.)

Most people didn't even know about WhyTwoKay, K?

Even when a few began to "hear shit" bout it, Koskinen and a pile of tax dollars and armtwisting was used to paint any who bought into the Y2k scenario as lonneytunes. See the de Jager flip-flop and the Izuzu commercials for clues.

Maybe TK stands for "Thought Kontagionation" LOLOLOLOL

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2001

LISTEN KLOSELY, T(hought)Kontagion, I DON"T HAVE TO PERFORM FOR YOU.

You have clearly established that you don't know squat and you are in no position to ask anyone to do ANYTHING for you BUT LAUGH AT YOU. NOW:

AGAIN

ATTN: TK (Troll_Krapper):

Try again. Enter data below. I know you can do it.

DEFINE "MEME" OR "THOUGHT CONTAGION" the terms you dismiss below

HMM, CHERRI, this was the "Erringboy's View". The similarity of this view and lack of intellectual horse power suggest he and "tk" would make a lovely pair. he only pre-rollover debunker arguments that I have seen are heavy on the profanity and thought contagionation nuttiness, and rather light on facts. I DON"T HAVE TO PERFORM FOR YOU.

Neither does HE/SHE have to perform for YOU, Charlie. You really DO need to realize that this is Poole's forum...NOT yours.

-- Anonymous, August 16, 2001

That applies to you Ms. And considering you have your own place to spew why are you here ? No traffic from you millions of fans and 1,000s of relatives who provide you 100s of vignettes of Life with Anita.

I am here to rid the Poole forum of KNATS TRYING KICKING ANT HILLS like FENCE SITTER (TK), Fence Sitter ("concerned") and asssorted other ASSHOLES who think Y2k is "ENTERTAINMENT".

consider this your usually ending: esad.

-- Anonymous, August 17, 2001

However, being an essentially superior person, I will temper my usual farewell and thoughts about you with a thanks for finally after a year or so coming up with something worth reading i.e. the shocking story of Wildmon running wilder on radio.

He has a right to his opinions but they are far better restricted to the SPITOON in the town he lives.

Like Pat Robertson, they have some fucking nerve trying to use the First Amendment to CENSOR any other views.

Jefferson's line is perfect: Eternal Hostility to any form of censorship over the mind of Man (woman).

TK seems to have returned to his classes at Ridgemont High this day, lol.

"So TK, what did you do over the summer?"

"Ah learned I don't know squat Mrs.Graham"

"How's that?"

"Well seems a RE broker, a Doctor, and some dude from Maui, I met on the Internet, made me realize I am nothing but a collection of what they call Memes"

"Memes?"

"Yup"

"Yes TK the internet is full of Mean people"

"Children always be careful when online! Let us learn the lesson TK has provided for us this day"

"the internet is full of meanies"
