slipped in under the wire!!(ordering chicks)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

After losing nearly all my chicks last week to an unfortunate incident with a fox, I've ordered pullets to be mailed tomorrow. I read this morning that tomorrow is the day NWA intends to discontinue shipping chicks as mail, and have been concerned lest by any means they would expect me to pick them up at the airport (a deal breaker for me). Ideal assures me this NWA thing does not affect my chicks, but they are of course concerned that other airlines will follow suit. Their home page now has a link to Murray McMurray's political action page. They've made it pretty easy to join in the letter campaign, if any of ya'll feel so inclined.

Thanks for the info--I'm sending the letters today! I hope more "Countrysiders" will do the same.

There's a couple of posts about this issue. It never hurts to keep reminding us though. I just got an update from McMurray. They are still working on this as well as other hatcheries. I could post that update here if anyone is interested. It appears that money may be the "bottom line" on this one. Have to wait and see what happens. It turns out to be a deeper issue than I first thought.

I spoke w/a lady fom McMurray last week, she said Northwest will continue to ship the remiander of this year b/c they have orders so far ahead. I still want to get meat birds. It doesn't leave much time if winter is an issue.

I did know there were earlier posts on this, but thought ya'll might like an update since Northwest Airline made this the week they stopped shipping chicks as mail. I believe McMurray is now using Continental.
