Anyone homesteading in Southern Oregon? Josephine County area?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

We are going to Southern Oregon to visit relatives in about a month and want to look for property in the Grants Pass area (Wilderville, Merlin, etc.) Does anyone know ball park figures for property there? Or does anyone know of a homestead type property for sale? We raise hybrid daylilies and think the climate there would be better than here in SE Arizona. We are six miles from the Mexican border and think the illegal problem is going to get worse. It's a war zone here. I'm from Medford, so we know the area pretty well. Thanks for any help.

We live in Josphine county north of grants pass but are moving back to Rogue River, (Wimer) the first of September. Land is spendy here but there are plenty of homestead type places. We looked around Merlin too, but the big house are being built and the prices soaring. Example: We just sold our 42 acre farm that we bought 3 years ago for 250K, for 320K, we have fisrt water rights (1878)for 20 acres. We bought 10 acres with 6 acres of timber for 200K. the whole area is turning into horse country! Merlin is a little more reasonable than Rogue River & Grants Pass, the further north you go the cheaper it gets. I would be glad to forward some real estate web sites to you.

Thanks for the info. I have been pulling up real estate sites for the Grants Pass area - land is a lot higher up there than here in AZ.

Check out a search for Ramsey Realty. They were very nice folks and specialize in the greater Applegate Valley.
