For TK (gn) a "Conference" lead by . THE WELL DRESSED BAG LADY

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

Few would call GWU a minor University. How The BAGLADY GORDON used GWU and mislead her sponsor Dr. Stuart Umbleby (Umbleby is another sad sack who wanted to be mislead because he was attending these things post 1/1/2000) is outlined below.

IT IS CLEAR NOW that the Liberal Artsy/Fartsy BAGLADY has one credo, the "embedded chip problem is cumulative". From that false hypothesis (long ago disproven) she continues to search with her Lamp in the Streets seeking that One Honest Embedded Expert who will TELL DA TROOOOOF. Her inability to find such a person could have something to do with the people she took information from . A chronicle of her efforts are here below. Note the "Joint Press Conference" with Yourdon. Later Yourdon posted that NOBODY CAME. Slick Ed might want to check his Shower Soap. When he appeared later at a Senate Hearing, only 1 of the committee members was there and only 1 more passed though the room (probably to add to election rhetoric that he attended all committee meetings).

THIS says it all. Putting Jim Lord on ANYTHING BUT GARBAGE DETAIL or JOHN SCRUBBING tells you about the WELL DRESSED BAG LADY's ABILITY:

DECEMBER 16, 1998 PANEL ON EMBEDDED SYSTEMS On December 16,
1998, a panel on embedded systems was held as a part of the World Future Society
Conference on Y2K in Washington, D.C. The panel was moderated by Paula Gordon.
Presenters spoke on the following topics:

~ Stuart Umpleby ~ Professor and Director of the Research Program for Social and
Organizational Learning (RPSOL), Department of Management Science, George
Washington University: "Introduction to Y2K Embedded Systems" ~ Dr. Michael P.
Harden ~ President and CEO of Century Technology Services, Inc. and author of
"Failure is Not An Option: Declaring War on the Year 2000 Problem" and
"Embedded Systems and the Year 2000 Problem: A Handbook forBusiness Managers
and Executives": "Y2K Embedded Systems" ~ Dr. Mark Frautschi, Shakespeare Tao
Consulting and author of "Embedded Systems and the Year 2000 Problem
(http://www.tmn.com/~frautsch/y2k2.html): "Embedded Systems ~ The Other Year
2000 Problem" ~ Jim Lord, Y2K speaker and writer, author of "A Survival Guide For
the Year 2000 Problem (http://www.survivey2k.com/): "Y2K, Global Positioning
Systems, and Embedded Systems".

**********************************************************************

Of interest is her selection of "experts" on her "embedded panel". Lord was a SCREWBALL and a Gary North Wannabee with newsletter and book. He became notorious latter when someone faxed him a web page which claimed it was "The US Navy's Secret Y2k data on the coming catastrophe". Big Secret? It was a page downloaded from the Navy's web site. (And the De-bunkers Documented that and got John Koskinen to investigate Lord's claims within hours of Lord's release). Another panelest here was the HAPLESS "Fraustchi". A Physicist who had worked at Fermi Labs he was obsessed with "embedded disasters" BUT as I proved, didn't know SQUAT because he was OUTSIDE HIS FIELD OF EXPERTISE. ============== http://stand77.com/wwwboard/messages/2173.html ------------

GW UNIVERSITY has scheduled a Y2K Conference Series for five different dates in
November. The conference series focuses on the Y2K and Embedded Systems Crisis
with an emphasis on high risk, high hazard sectors; high impact sectors; and
underserved and at risk populations. These areas have all received inadequate
attention to date both nationally and globally. One of the program segments will focus
on what is really going on in the field. The program is entitled "An Update on Y2K
and Embedded Systems, including Revelations from Insiders Concerning the Status of
Remediation and Testing Efforts"

Time is short and rather than just refer you to the announcement page at
http://www.gwu.edu/~y2k/keypeople/gordon/announcements.html, it seemed more
efficient to post this list of announcements concerning the conference series and some
others resources that are freely available on the Web.

The first two announcements are invitations to a series of Y2K programs. These
programs are free and open to all. The media is especially welcome to attend. No
reservations are necessary. Seating is on a first come, first served basis. (For the
Washington Post Evening Forum, reservations would be appreciated for planning
purposes. RSVP for that event to waz@gwu.edu )

If there are people you think would be interested in this information, please feel free
to forward this page.

Special note to the media: Please note there is a Press Briefing focusing on the

Approach One City Administrator is Taking in Preparing for Y2K" A presentation by
Michael Nolan

Michael Nolan, City Administrator of Norfolk, Nebraska, describes the approach that
he has been taking to ensure that Norfolk, Nebraska is a ready as it can be for the
December 31, 1999 rollover. While this presentation before the World Future
Society's Y2K Conference was given on December 17, 1998, it is as helpful and
inspiring today as it was then. Michael Nolan speaks with unusual candor, insight, and
conviction concerning what his city has been doing to prepare for Y2K. He is an
example of a public official who comprehends the fact that there are countless
unknowns posed by Y2K. He speaks as one who is committed without question to
serving the public good in light of wide range of uncertainties associated with Y2K.
His message and his example is as relevant to local and state officials as it is to
Federal officials.

Yeah, Paula, we'll push it.

Large Scale Embedded Systems (LSES) is where it is at, not these BEANCOUNTER
specials called Enterprise Systems. See my remarks on the Y2k makes strange
bedfellows thread below.

Later when nobody cared much in the real world(Nov=Dec,1999), Clown Lord Jim (Lord Dumbo), claimed a certain CEO he called "Mr. CEO" a vendor with 200 peope investigating Y2k Embedded Systems claimed a disaster was coming, the Gov. was doing nothing and America was a goner.

Lord announced that "Mr.CEO" would appear on a Net Radio Show (closely associated with Y2kTimes and Don McElvaney (another known SCREWBALL). Then Lord Dumbo announced that "Mr. CEO" would not appear because he was concerned that there would be serious consequences to his company. Now that was BULL SHIT because Mr CEO had announced through DUMBO that "we was goners" anyway AND that most of his teams of the 200 Embedded investigators had no work. SO WHAT COULD HE LOOSE?

Moving up another Year we have Paula Gordeon, WELL DRESSED BAGLADY WITH A Ph.D., INSISTING SHE HAS HER OWN "EXPERT", WHO IS CONSTANTLY TELLING HER ABOUT ALL THE FAILURES (WHICH OF COURSE,,,,,,,,BAGLADY CAN'T DETAIL BECAUSE....(WELL I DON'T KNOW WHY SHE CAN'T BUT SHE CAN'T).......

TAKE A GUESS WHO THE BAGLADY'S "EXPERT" AND WHO LORD'S "MR. CEO" COULD POSSIBLY BE.......AND REMEMBER, I AM NOT ACCUSING **ANYONE**. NOW IF ITS NOT "Dr. MARQUEE" AND ITS NOT "BUMBLING UMPLEBY" AND ITS NOT LORD DUMBO ...............

Say, Charles, Maybe you oughta warn people what kind of link that is!

Yeah right. But not before discussing Lord Dumbo the devouted father of what 8 or 9 and sincere religiouso only concerned with YOUR safety during the perilous days that would come before and after Y2k.

Said period of time according to several posts from Lord Asshole, the Sideburned Swabbie BS Artist would be "embedded problems that would keep lasting until at least 2010".

His link to a PORNO SITE is the 2nd one from one of the leading doomers that I have found so far. But what the heck the few pieces of gold they take in keeps them going. When they get to 30 do they stop counting and hang themselves. I suggest they all did that long before 1/1/2000.

Formerly Scary Gary Duct Tape North got what he really wanted. Fresh email addresses from the Faithful for use by his screwball efforts to promote FUD. He thus moved from direct mail to direct email and that is a cost savings to himself and Agora publishing that is probably 20 fold.

Same for Hitler Hyatt.

cpr, since you seem to spend your whole life keeping track of the Head Doomers like Paula Gordon, I thought I would ask: Do you know how these people spent their New Years eve in '99?

-- Anonymous, August 13, 2001

Everyone knows where I was for the 4 New Years Eves of 1999 to 2000 and for the 2 days after.

There were actually more Pros and Optimists working through the night and little data about the Doom Zombies holing up in their pre- announced "survival shelters" ranging from caves to pre-fabbed domes (courtesy of Candy, the Y2k Lady of the Domes).

Some of the Doom Zombies were posting every minute to TB2000. You can dig those up yourself.

Go read the Experts December and Final comments on the Russkelly.com web site.

North was probably laughing himself silly for having been able to falsely scare people again for the 10th or more time since the 1960s.

I have no idea and couldn't really care where Gordon was. I assume she "prepped" by having at least 5 changes of panties because she was expecting the worst. Paula Gordon was NEVER a "leading Y2k expert". She was a HITCHIKER on the issue. As was the Center for Y2k and Wasted Grant Money in D.C. with a bunch of Beltline Bandits with Ph.D.s and "C.V.s" (academic resumes) taking Multi-Millions for the Nathan Cummins Foundation and even the Washington Post.

Douglas Carmichael had thrown in the sponge before 1/1/2000 after an attempt as a "Seminar Speaker" failed. His partner, Frautschi, probably spent the night facing a corner praying that what he expected would not happen. I suspect he also had 5 changes of panties. A disgrace to his profession after actually working at Fermi Lab. Proof that one should never try to speak as an expert outside his own field.

Yourdon was probably checking his bank accounts to make sure all the deposits were in so he could file early. Was he in Taos after claiming he had sold his NYC apartment on the West Side (only to have someone catch him noting that he owned another one)?? Who cares? His statements before and after 1/1/2000 indicate a serious disconnect. Before he was discussing things like hanging all the politicians for allowing a catastrophe. After, he tried to find problems. Then he sort of "ignored" Y2k. He cancelled "Humpty Dumbty Y2k" because somehow they did put Hump back together again. He couldn't even adress the problem of where he was wrong. STUPID actually becase **I** yes me who he sneered as as "a real estate broker in Texas who couldn't possible understand" had TOLD HIM about "YOURDON"s CENTRAL FALLACY". (Y2k fixes were remediation not full scale I.T. Projects). So the real question with Asshole Yourdon is "if a "RE Broker"as he sneeringly called me,,,,,could get it right WHY COULDN"T THE "LEADING TECHNICAL EXPERT OF Y2K CONSULTING"???? No answer from Taos YourToast- ED has ever been seen. Too embarrassing???

Another "expert" Dr. Howard Rubin of Hunter College NYC, had an auto accident on N Yrs. Day. He refused to be taken to any hospital because he stated that "there would be too many Y2k problems to risk his life" and demanded to be taken home where a doctor was summoned. (NYC report).

Kappelman and Hall were not heard from much. Only Kappelman's silly "Lessons Learned" a part of another report, kept recycling in assorted media. There is no evidence that either learned anything.

One of the worst doomers 9/10 went out to a party in his own neighborhood in San Diego after claiming for years he would go to his hidden desert hideaway. BS artists' former URL goes to a porno site for traffic now. He failed to sell the domaine.

I think stupidity is Rubin's main enemy. I *could* be wrong.
