The Grady softball team finished their season Monday afternoon, dropping a doubleheader at Northgate. Northgate is one of the strongest teams in the state, and the Lady Knights showed their improvement by playing solid defense and making the Lady Vikings earn their victories.

Grady made a number of good defensive plays, with the highlight a throw by Ashley Anderson from left field to nail a Northgate runner at the plate on a good catch and tag by Nina Fortney. The whole Grady team was alert, playing with good hustle and great enthusiasm. Building for next year!

Congratulations to Coach Black and the team for great effort and progress in our first year in fast pitch softball!

Grady's softball team lost a heartbreaker to Crim Tuesday afternoon. The final score was 22-18 in six innings.

After being behind most of the game, Grady tied the game up at 17 at the end of the fifth. But Crim plated 5 in the top of the sixth, leaving too great a deficit for Grady to overcome. Grady was able to get runners on base consistently, but left the bases loaded in both the 5th and the 6th.

We now move on to the Region tournament, with a doubleheader scheduled at Northgate this Friday, September 28. Come cheer on your Lady Knights in Newnan!

The Grady softball team visited Paideia Thursday afternoon, September 20, for the second game in their season series. Grady opened in the top of the first with a run as Jessica walked with two outs, and then Ashley drove her in with a line drive triple down the third base line.

In the bottom of the first Brett, subbing for an ill Emily K, took the mound for the first time this year. She did great for her first time in a game, with many pitches forcing the Pythons to hit. Paideia did plate six in their half of the first, with the score then 6-1.

In each inning Grady did a good job getting the bat on fast Paideia pitches. We were anticipating and making Paideia make plays in the field. On defense, Miranda and Leigh made good infield plays and Paideia had to earn their runs. The final was Paideia 16-1.

Our next game, against Crim this coming Monday, is BIG. Come and support your Lady Knights at Southside Park @ 5:00!

Grady visited Northgate Monday afternoon, September 17, to play the Lady Vikings. Northgate has their own field across the street from the school, just off I-85 in Newnan. With the speed of Northgate's pitcher, the Lady Knights put pressure on the infield with a number of bunts. Northgate made good plays, however, and kept Grady off the bases in the first.

Northgate opened with ten runs in their half of the first. Grady's defense stiffened in the second, however, holding them scoreless as Leigh threw a batter out from short and Nina got an unassisted double play at first.

In the top of the third Jessica reached on a hit by pitch, and then made it to second as a throw got away. But she was stranded and Northgate put the game away in the bottom of the third, 15--0.

Come support Grady in their next game at Paideia this Thursday!

Grady and Crim played a tight game Thursday afternoon, September 6. Grady opened with three in the first, but Crim matched them and pulled ahead after one. Grady came back to tie them up 11-11, but Crim scored one in the fourth to go up 12-11. Both defenses tightened in the latter part of the game. Grady made several good plays to hold Crim. We were unable to tie it up by the seventh, however, and the game ended with Crim still up 12-11.

The Grady softball team played their first game of the season against Northgate Thrusday afternoon. The girls knew they were facing a strong group of girls who finished fifth in the state last year. Our girls were not able to score against this strong team, but they did make several great defensive plays to cut Northgate lead. the final score was 15 to 0.
