Does anyone have any tips on growing oats in the Spring to feed my chickens? Any related info would be greatly appreciated.

Do the oats impart any protein to the Chickens?

I don't intentionally grow oats for my hens, but I use the freshly soiled bedding from my goat barn to mulch the paths in my garden. Because the bedding hasn't cooked, I do get oats popping up here and there in my paths. When I do, I let them go to seed, then put the whole plant in my chicken coop and the whole plant pretty much disappears in short order! I have 6 fat, sassy, healthy, spoiled laying hens.
