RealPlayer Auto Update???

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

A friend gave me a video cd. I have downloaded Windows Media Player on my Compaq Presario PC. As with RealPlayer, I get the message,"Currently AutoUpdate has no plug in available to play your selection."

What do I do? Thanks!!!!!

Your message means one of two things: 1) Windows Media Player does not understand the VCD format. Try directly loading the video file from the MPEGAV subdirectory on disc and see if it can play it that way. 2) If #1 fails, that means that you are missing the MPEG-1 codecs you need to play it. You could try going to www.elecard.com and get the Elecard MPEG player. It's shareware, but it does have codecs for MPEG-1 and 2 and it should enable you to play the VCD.
