Country time and county fairs (Hogs)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Country time and county fairs Spent the morning setting up stuff at our county fair, and most of the afternoon getting our pigs clipped and show ready. Here it is already the final few days of this years 4-H project, wow where has the summer gone???? For those of you who have never clipped a pig,(give it a hair cut)you don't know what you are missing.Yes it's truely a wonderful time.Nothing like trying to trim a pig that has a much different idea, like chewing my bootlaces, rolling in the corner of the pen and not caring much for the sound of the trimmers. But I think I have won round one,we will take them out tommorrow and wash them down to see what is left that needs touched up.

Response to Country time and county fairs

That is funny Steve, as many years as I was involved with 4-H I NEVER knew that they clipped pigs for show. We clipped most everything else but never showed pigs so I didn't know. It is a wonderful time to be sure. This is the first year in many that I am not playing an active role of some sort at a fair, and I think I am missing it already. Have fun and good luck!!!
