Making Innovation Happen

greenspun.com : LUSENET : What keeps you up at night? : One Thread

Hey everybody:

Here's my question--what are people out there doing to make innovation happen inside their organizations? I'm working in an international non-profit membership association and my goal is to transform this organization into an internationally recognized innovation broker for the information profession (the profession we serve.) But it's just the beginning and I'm seeking advice and insights from others who are facing these challenges.

So, again, the question: what are you doing to make innovation happen inside your organization?

Thanks,

"Innovation" seems to be on the lips and minds of so many organizations today, as they try to find new ways to win (or survive in some cases!) in thier chosen markets.

In order to create an innovative organization, you need to articulate clearly how that should manifest itself, provide tools and training, and link the desired behaviors to compensation. It is important during the initial stages to focus on the process, not the outcome. If you can get the hearts and minds of your people in the right place, the outcomes will follow.

Good luck.
