Had some years ago that were half Russian and half Wild bore from North Carolina. Taste fine very lean. On the other hand wild, mean, impossible almost to keep in a pin and when grown are dangerous to adults and very dangerous for children. Not the kind to raise for your meat supply. Of course just my opinion some may like having dangerous animals but there are too many good breeds of pigs and they just don't cost that much to buy what is best for your use.

Find someplace actually raising these things and take a look at a full grown uncut Russian boar and the efforts the breeders have to take to keep those devils in their pens and under control. That should tell you all you want to know.

The North American European Wild Boar Association, P.O. Box 133, Lake Spring, MO 65532 may be able to direct you to breeders in your area with hands-on experience.

I live in Alaska and i raise Russian Wild Boars. We do not have a problem with their temperment or keeping them in their pins. These hogs are a pleasure to raise, they litter very well up to 6 pigglets. They require little for housing and adapt well to their surroundings. at the present we have 60 hogs ranging from 50 to 400 lbs. we also have 10 sows ready to farrow. they farrow easly and are excellent mothers.
