peach fruit development

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

We have had peaches on our peach tree for about 2 months. They are still in the early fruit stage. Will they develop more? If not, what can we do to prevent this problem next year?

Expect your peaches to ripen in mid to late July and in Auguest, although a FEW do ripen sooner. It just takes awhile, that's all. If you want bigger peaches, pull off some, leaving one peach every 4- 6 inches for maximum size. Unless you've noticed any particular problems with your tree, I'd just say they aren't ready yet.

How old is your tree??

Peaches fruit seem to hang around in the small, hard, green stage for a long, long time. Rest assured they will finally ripen on time.
