Mingling for cats

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Blowing Bubbles : One Thread

Have you ever introduced a new cat to your current one? I know that it will sort itself out in time, but i'm up to hearing tips on making it an easier transition. It makes me sad to see Caesar try so hard to make friends and it makes me sad to see Cricket so distraught over a new furface in the apartment.

Advice?

Hey Sherry, I came upon your journal a little while back. I enjoy reading you. :) I know what you mean by your older cat trying to get along with a kitten. Im going thru the same thing. Only advice Ive got for you is Patience and lots of it. Enjoy your new kitten! Tally

If it might help, my sister is still living with my parents and got herself a new kitten as well. It was ill last week but now it is getting better, one thing it does is eating off all the food, including that for which it is too small still, as my parents have cats and dogs and rabbits. One advantage over your situation is that the older cat is alowed to leave the house, so she doesn't care much, but they were sort of fighting last weekend when I was there.
