Chicken health question

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Howdy, and thanks in advance for the helpful replies! I've come across some poop where the chickens run that is runny and ochre colored...is this a sign of coccidiosis? Everyone looks just fine, and they range all day on as much land as they want, so crowding and management doesn't appear to be a problem. What do I do?

Yes, this sounds like coccidiosis, go to the vet and get some Tylan ( or similar antibiotic)to mix in their drinking water as soon as possible, in the meantime, add one ounce per gallon of water of CIDER vinegar as their sole source of drinking water.

If it is coccidiosis, the only cure is Corid (Amprolium).
