how do i make a VCD still image slideshow?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I was wondering if anybody could inform me on making a VCD slideshow with still images using Nero 5.0. I tried using the "nero help" topics, and it said that i would have to encode the still images using NERO ONLY. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. Thanks, Rich

What Nero meant is you include the still files in either JPEG or Windows BMP formats in the VCD layout, and it will encode these to the proper itemxxxx.dat MPEG-1 stills format you later see in the SEGMENT directory.

Using still images in JPG format. Transfer your images to Ulead Media Studio Pro or other software. You can include sound track also. You need to define the duration for each picture. Auto convert it to MPEG1. For better quality, the finished MPEG1 file go through TMPEG. Then burn your finished product

Sbar's method above yet again forces us to have a resolution of 352x240 or 352x288 only, being reduced to creating a conventional MPEG-1 VCD-compliant stream. ONE WHOLE POINT OF THE STILL MPEG in a VCD is to RETAIN FULL RESOLUTION of either 704x480 or 704x576!! Nero CAN do this. IT DOES look so much better, DVD-like, on playback with your VCD player and bigscreen TV. WHY WASTE THIS CAPABILITY of White Book?? Still MPEGs IS the ONLY part of White Book that caters to full- resolution. Why not take full advantage of it??
