The best place IN THE WORLD for fried oysters is Speed's Kitchen in Shellman Bluff. It is an unimposing place (actually several trailers connected together) but the food is fabulous. The price is right too! How to get there? Go to Shellman Bluff and follow the signs, or ask anyone."Speed's" is only open Thursdays through Sundays so plan ahead.

We ate at "B & J's Family Restaurant" 901 Highway 17 in Darien, GA for lunch on 7-9-01. It's small, run by and for locals, has a cheap buffet lunch (we weren't interested). We each had a fried shrimp sandwich served with lettuce, tomato, and tartar sauce on the side. It was just great, we'll go back for another one.
