Happins around here. [Of course---Preachin! ]

Earth shatter'n news here in the land of the Illinois Hillbilly. The Powers that Be around here have seen the end of construction on the new river bridge over the Little Wabash River at the old Wilcox crossin. A fine new crete bridge up about 30 ft from the water. Made so much sense to build a nice new bridge with fine elevated approaches, rocked and with guard rails. Why, even the dirt work is all finished along with the seed'n and straw'n of those very steep grades.

Just one thing I'm kinda wonder'n--when the river gets out of it's banks it floods the entire roadway from this new bridge for almost a 1/2 mile to the fairly new crete bridge over Little Muddy river. Water so deep that you could swim a horse betwix those bridges. Now, I rekon this old hillbilly is miss'n somethang-but- just what good is a new bridge if you can't use it in wet weather?

After a week of clean'n and re-arrangin my "kept" junk last week, it sure is a welcomed weekend for this OLD body to rest a spell. Monday will start off rather quickly with a/c work kick'n into gear around here. I guess that's good too. I can use the money for necessities of this life. How about "Feed the Children" in Oklahoma? Little dudes and dudettes are goin hungry while we waste enough to feed an army. Drop a little in an envelope and mail off to'm. Ya'll will feel better for doin it.

OH Btw, still testing the van's carb "fix" but it looks rather good and promisin. With a 305 v8---how about-about 37 mpg? More later on it after it's lined out--that is if'n I don't burn it down! LOL.

When Jesus comes for His own He will shout "Come up hither". Only the saved will hear Him. The dead in Christ will rise from their graves first and we who are alive will be changed in the twinkling of an eye and together we will meet Him in the air. Forever will we be with Him! If you havn't made reseverations with Him --do it now. Tomorrow may be too late. He could come tonite. Matt.24:44

Morning Hoot! I was up a little early this morning, and was reading the forum before going in to town to worship the King with my brotheres ans sisters. I was working on the forge yesterday, and thought how much we are like the iron that I bend and pound. We are so stiff and sure of what we are, unbending, until God heats us up and makes us soft. Then we are able to conform to His will and plan, and be used be Him. The last few weeks I feel like I have been living Isaiah 48:10, but I know God has all in control. Raining this mornig, the chickens sure gave me a dirty look when I want out to feed them, altho they love the worms. Went fishing yesterday for a couple hours at the dam with my younger daughter, didn't catch anything, but we had a good time. God bless, Stephen

Dear Hoot, Doesn't Revelation 1:7 say "every eye shall see him" when Jesus returns?

Lynn

Lynn! Yes "every eye shall see Him" at the Second coming. This will not be at His next appearing [Rapture] but after He returns to earth following the Tribulation. The Rapture --only the saved will see Him as He appears in the eastern sky and does not step foot on earth. Only the saved will see and hear Him call out at the rapture "Come up hither"--. He's coming soon. As Christians we should all be looking for Him to appear at any time.

Matt.24:44

Dear Hoot, The Bible does not mention the word rapture, therefore it is simply a man made idea. Nowhere does the Bible say that Jesus will ever set foot on the earth again. Revelation 1:9 says John was already in trubulation. There will only be one resurrection of the dead (John 5:28-29). for instance, Acts 17:18 talks of "the resurrection". There is only one. I think I know what you will say to this, but we will see.

Yours for greater Bible study, Lynn

Lynn-- you probably don't know what I"m gonna say. It appears your mind is made up and nothing I can say or point out will change your mind---so I won't try nor will I argue. I will say that you're correct on the word "rapture" not being in the Bible, however, the act of the "catching away" is in the Word. Matt.24:44

Hi Hoot,

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 are the "rapture" verses. In verse 17 the bible says, "we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air; and so shall we ever be with the Lord." The words "caught up" in the Latin translation (Latin Vulgate) is the word rapere which means to seize or carry away. The english word is rapture. So...preach it brother.

I have a suggestion... how about taking this argument over the doctrine of the Second Coming of Christ, over to the Christian Board, just to keep from offending anyone on here who is on the brink of concidering christianity?

-- daffodyllady (daffodyllady@yahoo.com), May 10, 2001.

Sorry, Although I agree with everything hoot said, in this case, I have to agree with daffodlylady. These agruments might cause someone who is considering Christianity to chuck the whole thing and spend an eternity without Jesus. Why couldn't we do our discussing by EMail? Please don't anyone be offended. Eagle
