Natural products for Hepatitis C, that work

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have a very good friend in Az who called me last spring and said she was 43 and probably wouldn't see her 45th brithday due to hepatitis C that she probably got while in the servive back in the early seventies. The VA talks about a liver transplant, if she live long enough. I sent her some colostrum right after Christmas and it really helped her pain-wise she said. But her white blood cell count is getting dangerously low, so need help. Are you out there earth mama? Any help greatly appreciated.

The product name for blue-green algae is spirulina. I don't know about it's application to Hep. C . I'd do some research on the web and at the library. Time is precious.

Check out Loyola and University of Chicago Health Centers. Both are great with the latest on alternative therapies, and also are tops in conventional medicine. I've gone there for a couple things, so have several of my friends back home. They might be able to help some.

Hi Darrell, Of course hepatitis is a serious condition, and although there certainly are natural treatments, if the liver is already damaged beyond what the docs think is repairable, its possible a transplant is all that will help. Is that what they're saying?

Is she taking any rememdies/drugs right now?

For liver healing of any kind, milk thistle is imperative, IMO. Three caps a day, and lipoic acid , same dosage.

Drink lots of homemade broths: cover fresh ORGANIC chicken, turkey, or beef, including bones, with pure water, add a tablespoon or two of REAL apple cider vinegar (buy in health food store, or make your own) , and simmer, covered. for 24 hrs. You can add vegetables, or vary with just vegetable broth, made the same way.

Drink diluted organic vegetable juices.

Take essiac tea! It boosts the immune system, cleans the liver, and reduces inflammation. You can purchase here click here

Take licorice........drink real licorice root tea, and/or take capsules. It also enhances immune system and supports the liver.

STAY AWAY FROM SUGAR, WHITE FLOUR, FRUIT JUICE AND FRIED FOODS.

See if you can get a naturopath or wholistic chiropractor to get you some organic bovine thymus extract ( I like Standard Process brand name: its all produced in Wisconsin by a small but very caring company); associated with the Rife Machine people I believe.)

Finally, she must deal with the spiritual, as with all healing. The liver is associated with anger, even rage, and resistance to change. If she is ready to deal with any issues like this she may be harboring, she has to open them up and deal with them in order to heal. She needs to discover her own divine power within to heal, and learn the difficult process of cleansing (which is the liver's job after all) and starting anew.

Blessings to you and your friend,

Thanks to all for answering this, especially EarthMama. Those of US w/ Hep C can use all the help we can get. I found out I have HCV after delivering a baby bare handed in a car. Unsure of where I got it or for how long it's been around.

For those who are affected- DON'T DRINK ANY ALCOHOL, DON'T SMOKE OR CHEW and DON'T TAKE ANY TYLENOL PRODUCTS YOU DON'T HAVE TO. Tylenol is in lots of products. Look for Acetaminophen or APAP on label.

Be nice to your liver and it may well be nice to you. HCV is not an automatic death sentance, But avoiding liver failure is crucial. There's no telling if or when it will go active and get bad. Each case is different. Liver enzymes in the tests don't generally show up bad till things are already damaged. HCV is the #1 cause of transplant. Lots of good info out there. I have researched this big time and decided to be nice to the liver and not worry to much about it. If active signs show up I'll reevaluate. The "Cure" is almost as bad as the disease. John

I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart, including those who only e-mailed me, and did not post here. She is taking milk thistle, but I doubt if it is of very high quality as she gets it from the local wal-mart. Only wish I'd asked this question a long time ago. She is due to go to Portland Or at the end of may to be evaluated for a liver transplant by the VA.

Actually, about all the VA has done over the last year is do periodic blood tests. She was told that she may have gotten hep c from the gun that they gave shots back in the 70's, or from a boy friend while in the army.

She told me that 50 new cases of hep c are showing up every month at the VA in Phoenix.

Once again, thank all of you very much. I'll be calling her in a few minutes and tell her about all the response from the caring people on the Countryside forum.
