Are hernias anything to be worried about?

Response to Hernias

Hi Steve, Hernias can be dangerous, as there is a possibility of strangulation of the bowel. If that happens you have to have emergency surgery. I had a very small umbilical hernia and had it checked. The surgeon said for me to schedule the surgery within a year. It was an outpatient procedure with a relatively short recovery. I am assuming that you are speaking of yourself and not an animal. One of my pups had one and the vet said it's usually no biggee. That's all I know on the matter. I hope it helps.
