---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- BILL WILLIAMSON STAFF WRITER ---------------------------------------------------------------------- -- A former Viking may be moving closer to signing with the Denver Broncos, for whom a prospective Viking has decided to play. The Vikings are about $2 million under the salary cap with most of that money earmarked for their picks in next month's draft. * Tight end Johnny McWilliams might be close to signing with New England. The Vikings, who chose to go with newly signed Byron Chamberlain as their starter, don't plan to re-sign McWilliams. The Vikings might decide to re-sign John Davis as a backup.
