Loking for a place in Seattle

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Xeney : One Thread

I am looking for a place in Seattle. I will be moving up their for the summer with my wife an then 6-month old boy and am having trouble finding a place to rent for the summer. It will only be for 2 ½ months from June 20th to August 15th. It seems all the places around Seattle want a 6-month lease at least. I was wondering if any one knew of some one that wanted to sublease their place over the summer if they were taking off. I will be working at an internship for this summer and my job will be in downtown Seattle. If any one has any ideas I would appreciate it.

Hi Brian!

I live in Seattle and although I don't know of anything off the top of my head, here are a few places you could try:

www.thestranger.com Seattle's weekly newspaper, they also post rentals and stuff like that.

www.seattle.net This is like a home page for Seattle. It has links to all of Seattle's newspapers and you can probably find some good resources there.

I used Rent Tech to find my place (renttech.com) but I'm not sure if they post subleasing. You can check out the page to see if it has anything like that before you buy the service (It's $75 for 1 1/2 mos. of listings)

These should help you get started--good luck!

Have you thought about a "corporate apartment?" Ideal for short stays such as yours, but you don't have to sign a lease... more like a long-term hotel that's livable.

...but found in apartment complexes. (Fully furnished.)

I don't think I can help you, although I'll ask around - come to think of it I have a friend who might be into that... let me check with her. I'll forward your posting and your email to her. Don't get your hopes up, but she'll at the very least email you something to let you know if it's yes or no.
