Web site url for you. (Goodwill) Web site.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Quite some time back I made a note that Goodwill was going on line with some of their items. I had forgotten about it, but came across the url today.

The web site for Goodwill is http://www.shopgoodwill.com It appears to be similar to Ebay where you bid on items.

WOW!!! The prices are high! 5% handling Fee! Plenty of Bidders! They are making a killing!

Goodwill is building a new store in Ocala Florida, the property alone probably cost them a Million. the building is huge, I figure the building will cost a couple Million to build. Makes me wonder how much money is actualy going to help the disabled. I wonder how much the CEO makes.

Many years ago I met the Founder of Goodwill (his daughter was married to the preacher at a church I attended). At the time I met him he did not work for the organization anymore. He seemed like a nice man. I was a youngster at the time and I remember my Dad saying he got the feeling that he was not pleased with the way things were going back then (25 years ago). He has probably passed on now and I imagen he would be shocked at the money they are spending.

I just have a bad feeling about Goodwill. A few years ago at the Ocala Goodwill managent from the disrict office came in and fired everyone in the store, they claimed that items were stolen so they fired everyone with no proof that they were involved. I know there was a Lawsuit filed but I don't Know what the outcome was.

Just my opinion!

Another site that I think is affiliated with Sal. Army is resale2u.com. Thanks, Mary

I thing that Salvation Army / Goodwill type stores really overcharge for the items they sell. I've had better luck with selection, cleanliness, and value by shopping garage sales. There's one local place called 'Savers' that charges up to $8.99 for a new shirt! What a rip. I've found clearance priced NEW shirts of similar quality on the clearance racks at Target.
