Anybody ever use sticky traps?

I wanted to try sticky traps to control cuke beetles in my garden. Will my bees get trapped in this as well. Anyone have any experience using these?

Tiffani,

Are you talking about those fly strips? I use them in my house for flys. The ones I am thinking of have a sweet smell like molasses. I fear they would catch the bees and everything else.

Yes... they will catch EVERYTHING that moves... including long hair!!! I used them once. Never again. (I have 'fly-away' long hair, and couldn't seem to stay far enough away from the stuff!!)

Also, it will catch grass, leaves, twigs, take hair off dogs and cats.

If you're talking about the sticky traps meant for white flies, yes I have used them. When I put them in my garden, all they seem to catch is very tiny flies (white flies?) and the occasional black fly or mosquito. For cuke beetles, Ive tried spraying with vinegar and handpicking. It's a constant battle for me!!
