Play'n in fire and other stuff.

The day started off quite nicely, thank you. Lil Dumplin didn't even have to tell me to "put up that new mail box"! I was already up and saw'n when she looked out the door--NIGHTGOWN and hair in ROLLERS! Well anyhow-I just kept on and finally finished the job in about 1 1/2 hours. It didn't fall over and in fact is kinda stout and sturdy. It's a little crooked, kinda twisted and not straight with the world or road or ground or sky or much of anything else I guess. But it's up and even has an oak 2x4 prop'n it up a little bit till the ground settles some.

I had two HUGE piles of lumber that ole jeep had sawn me from High Line poles-on his woodmizer band mill. I got tired of mow'n around'm and dropped a match by'm. Thought bout tak'n some taters and coat'n'm in clay and roll'n'm in the coals but decided it was too much work! I just HAD to set on ole Nicki's tailgait and watch'm burn. Checked outside bout an hour ago and boy-talk about coals! Must be a truckload of'm. I'll throw in the end pieces tomorrow morning and let'm burn up completely-that is if I'm up and able!

While look'n underneath the woodpile saw a hole for Old Mr. Groundhog! He'd already taken flight or run or whatever--he wasn't home! They cause a lot of destruction around a farm and also can cause injury to horses and cattle that don't see their holes and step in one of'm break'n legs.

Methinks it's most time to sell out our homestead and move into something a little smaller and easier to take care of. We've been talk'n about sell'n the house and about 5 acres and then build'n a smaller house on back end of the farm. Lil Dumplin and I are both gett'n older and don't really want to work all the time. Simpler is always better unless it requires a lot of hard labor!!!! Ya'll take care and take a day of rest tomorrow! For all those hav'n fried chik'n, mashed taters, gravy, green beans and CHOC CAKE-tomorrow----think of ole hoot. I'll be hav'n SPAM since Mr Groundhog wasn't home! Luke 6;31

Grandpa Hoot, gonna sell your homestead and move into something smaller & easier to take care of? How about if you & lil dumpling sell and then move in with fellow Countrysiders? You can live rent free and you can teach us everthing you know, then when everything has been taught you move on to the next Countrysiders house?!? I get to keep him first since I thought of it - if he doesn't mind living in cold, snowy Pennsylvania for a while! Keep us laughing Hoot!
