Inexpensive Books

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I recently found a web page some of you may be intrested in. I purchased a few books from them at a good price - Joel Salatin-"You Can Farm,Salad Bar Beef, Pastured Poultry" MEN -"Living on Less" "Straight Ahead Organic" "The Passive Solar House" "Sharing The Harvest" As you probably know these books range in price from $20.00-$35.00 retail but I purchased them from $6.00-$10.00 dollars each and only $1.00 shipping per book. These books are returns damages etc. but still good reading. Hope this is helpful.

Hey Todd, this sounds like a good deal! What kind of "damage" can be expected ? Are all the pages there? Thanks,

Todd's comments concerned me since I had just placed an order for six books a short time ago. I emailed New Age Books and asked them about the condition of their books. They replied that if any book is less than perfect they notify the person interested before shipping. This certainly relieved my fears. I think it might be a good idea when you order to ask about this. I will be sure and let this board know what condition my books arrive in, because I would like to be sure that accurate information is getting out there.

Don't forget to try Edward R. Hamilton Booksellers. They have advertised in CS before. I have used them many times. Flat rate shipping of $3 no matter how many you order. They have a web site and a newspaper like catalog.

Just a quick note. I have ordered and received 7 books and only one had a small tear on the back page and a couple had slightly bent corners. All others are in good condition. Considering the prices are 75%-80% off retail I can live with that. Customer service has been good since they shipped one wrong title and when I e-mailed them about returning it they told me to pass it along to somebody who would like it and sent me the correct title. And no I don't work for this company just trying to tell everybody about a good resource for books.

Thanks for the infor, this is both good and bad, the prices are wonderful, I just ordered four books, however, I am trying to cut back on my book buying and this didn't not help the dedicated bibliophile in me. LOL. I gusee I'm hopeless.

Blessings

Hi Countrysiders. I just received my order of books from these people and they were in excellent condition and first rate books. I checked B&N and Amazon and my books were purchased at least a third of the cost at the big book stores. I plan to acquire more because of the service and price. I dont know where we will find room for more books but we enjoy reading. Sure beats the idiot box. Take care. Jerry.

I just received six books from this source, yesterday, and they were in excellent shape. The prices are too tempting though. We have too many books already. (Is there such a thing?)
