Climbing conditions in June/july

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Mountaineering : One Thread

I am planning on going to the alps in the middle of june and staying to the middle of july. I was wondering how the weather conditions will be and if many of the snow/ice climbs will still be in condition? Thanks Dave

Variable. The summer sno/ice routes should be fine, although conditions can be bad in mid-June due to remnants of winter snow and warm Fohn winds which make the approaches tedious, even at night. June is quieter than July in terms of people density. And the ice routes are better early in the summer than later.
