How do I raise PH in well water?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My daughter's well water was tested and the water is too acid. It erodes the copper pipes. Is there a inexpensive filter or treatment that can be installed to raise PH? We appreciate this forum.

Perhaps you could hook up some sort of intake pipe that is filled with something like crushed oyster shells, with a fine-mash screen on the "finished" side of the flow (to keep the shells out of the rest of the pipes). If you made it so that you could easily unscrew it to replace the shells, this would probably work fine. Shells are cheap in the feed store.
