A Matter of Perspective An American was at the pier of a small costal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellow fin tuna. The American Complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them. The Mexican replied only a little while. The American then asked why he did not stay longer and catch more fish . The Mecican fisherman said he had enough for his familys immediate needs. The American asked but what do you do with the rest of your time? The Mexican fisherman said I sleep late fish a little play with my children take a siesta with with my wife stroll into the village each evening play quitar with my amigos . I have a full life senor. the American scoffed I am a Havard MBA and I could help you . You should spend more time fishing and with the proceeds buy a bigger boat . with the proceeds from the bigger boat you could buy several boats eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to the middleman you would sell directly to the processor eventually openg your own cannery . You would need to leave this small costal fishing village and move to Mexico city then LA and eventually NYC where you will run your expanding enterprise. The Mexican fisherman asked but senor how long will all of this take? To which the American replied 15 - 20 years but what then senor? The American laughed and said Thats the best part. When the time is right you would announce an IPO and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich you would make millions. Millions senor then what ? Then you would retire. MOVE to a small costal fishing village where you would sleep late fish a little play with your kids take asiesta with your wife and take a stroll to the village in the evenings where you could play your Quitar with your amigos. Sounds like a homesteader perspective to me! As I have told many before, want what you have and you'll always have what you want. Anyone can "live like a millionaire, its just in the perspective.

Thank Jack, loved it. When we sit down to a nice meal, all of which we have produced ourselves, playing in our gardens and with our animals we have a frequent little laugh. We live and eat like millionares, without all the hassle.

Great story. Filled with the irony of American consumerism. Thanks for posting it.

Enjoyed the story Jack,,thanks for sharing it with us. And it is a feeling I have always had,,our riches are according to what we value in life. We have the greatest treasures of the world in the "contentment" of life.
