Ebola in Canada?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I heard a little snippet on the news last night about a Canadian who traveled from Africa and subsequently came down with Ebola (while in Quebec).

Anyone else heard any more?

I heard it was a woman from the Congo or somewhere in Africa and she was on a plane that stopped in New York on its way to Canada. They hadn't confirmed that it was ebola but the woman had all the symptoms. That was in an Associated Press story in this morning's paper.

I just went to Yahoo news and did a search and came up with all sorts of stories about this. Just type in Eboli on your news search. Sounds like a real cliff hanger maybe.

Um, I haven't kept up on Ebola issues. Have there been no cases in the USA so far? I was under the impression that there had been?

Surprisingly I live about 20 miles from Henderson Hospital where the woman is being treated. Tests just came back today verrifying its' not Ebola, but they still havn't isolated what it is. Most of the hospital staff is pretty worried as they came in contact with her and then went home to their families at the end of their shift, before anyone realized how serious this was.Hopefully all is under control but time will tell

An excellent book on the subject of plagues/emerging virus is:

The Coming Plague: Newly Emerging Diseases in a World Out of Balance by Laurie Garrett
