Congratulations! Isn't it exciting when they finally come? I bet they're awfully cute, even if they are "wierd looking". If you are wethering them, we usually band at about a week when we disbud. It's not hard to do, and we haven't had any to have trouble with it. Well, they seem to have some discomfort the first day, but they will be bouncing again the next.

Yeah Grandma!! She did it finially! What a relief this is, waiting so long, and everything was fine, yeah. What's their names?

Congratulations!! We know the feeling of waiting, one of our largest mamas had twins today at noon and another followed about an hour later with a single. Makes 6 out of 20 now, only 3 bucks so far out of 10 babys. The little ones are so cute to watch. This is the wifes first time to be up close and see the birthing and it has been a great experince for her. God bless and Have a Great day.

Yes, congrats, Renee! We won't have any baby goats this year. I didn't think I'd miss it, but I do already! I DEFINITELY don't want to stir up anything controversial, but regarding the de-horning: I had a week-old buck kid that I had the vet do, with the iron. He went into shock and I almost lost him. I know this is unusual, but it happened. Also, perhaps you have seen de- horning and already know what happens, but I just gotta say that to me, it appears to be just about the most painful thing to do to farm animals. I have de-horned and I have let them be, and I have had horned goats mixed with non-horned goats, and my vote is not to de- horn. Lots of people are dead-set in favor of routine de-horning, but if you don't have goat experience either way, I'd say try skipping it to see how it works out for you and yours.

Renee,I'm looking for an angora type buck to breed to my angora does,(I wound up with one buck, one doe last year)The buck has his horns is very calm and friendly and has nice fiber.I just don't want to breed him back to mom and sister.I would have to clear it with my wife but are you interested in a swap? You should have my phone number from an earlier e-mail or e-mail me back.Congrats on the new ones are'nt baby goats the cutest things?

Congratulations, Renee. I'm still waiting...impatiently. Fiona the naughty Nubian is getting more and more round but no babies yet.

Glad the babies arrived ok.If making wethers of them,I would wait until they are 6-8 weeks old.Gives the plumbing a chance to develop. Goat Grandma.Has a nice ring to it.

Congrats Renee -- I bet those bucklings are a cute "fuzzy" pair! I wouldn't recommend banding/castrating till they're 8-10 weeks old to give the urethra proper growth.
