I have a spring head on my farm in Townville, SC. It produces 1 Gal. per hour ALL seasons and is 300 ft. -600 ft. from the garden & fruit - nut trees to be irrigated. I need information on how I can use this water for #l IRRIGATION #2 SMALL ANIMAL WATERING #3 HOME USE I am an independent small subsistence farmer who uses all natural methods for restoring the soil & growing fruits, nuts, & vegetagles on 3 acres.

OK. SCS(that's not what they are now but I keep forgetting their new name) has information on spring head developement for livestock.It was part of their rotational grazing project,anyway.Our one spring is somewhat intermittant,so we have to put in a pond instead for the storage.But you can go with the smaller system,it sounds like.Give your local office a call and see what info they have.

This is the best web site i have found on springs: http:www.bae.ncsu.edu/programs/extension/publicat/wqwm/ag473-15.html For irrigation, pump or gravity flow in to a storage unit & them gravity flow if possible. Drip irrigation is the most effecient method. Hope the spring flow is more than a gallon per hour, the web site explains how springs can be improved, water tested, etc. Good luck, Larry
