observation made of interest to people with chemical problems and food allergies (may be gross to some people)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I just bought a small area rug (5 x 9) As you know, I have chemical problems so I smelled it in the store and it seemed to be okay. When I unrolled it at home, it had a slight odor. A little later, my throat hurt and I felt unwell. My eyes burned. Down went the baking soda and on went the air purifier. Later, my glands were swollen and my joints ached.

Now here is my observation, (sorry if anyone get grossed by this) the next day my armpits were sweating profusly. I found that since I've been eating right and taking my suppliments I no longer need deodorant but because my body was trying to detox this carpet, the pits were soaked. I also noticed that during the holidays, because I have a tendency to eat the things I know I shouldn't, the next day I'm sweating also.

Puts a little perspective on the fact that the people in the old days, dressed to cover all parts of their bodies, probably didn't smell all that bad.

Anyone have any suggestions on how they detox? I take milk thistle, Vits C & E, CoQ10, and multiple Vit and Min. Should maybe take Glutatione again.

I'd stick the rug outside somewhere to offgas for awhile! Got a dry outbuilding?

Pau D'Arco is a great detoxifyer.

I use essiac myself, truly believe in the stuff (but cuz I make it available to people, I always have it on hand) at least three times a week and more when needed. If you need a source: detox info

HOw much C do you take? MOst people don't take enough I dont think, especially when they are involved in a healing crisis. Its completely non-toxic; you can gauge your proper dosage at the time by gradually increasing until diarrhea tells you thats enough. Garlic is absolutely the most wonderful thing for most everything, in my opinion. Helps with not only detoxing, but for joint pain, and its a natural antibiotic.

Have you ever had an applied kinesiology exam? I suppose you probably have since you are chemically sensitive, but just in case.....

Blessings,

Wow, do I know your story. I've tried UltraCleanse, too fast, poisoned for three days after just 1/4t., shows you how bad off I am. somehting like 39% toxic. Green Magma...eventually the same thing happened. grapefruit juice,...When I drink too much water, my underarms actually have 2nd degree burns. I wrote about dehydration las week on here, the toxic cells are pulling water out of the good cells. I'm drinking more water but not enough, but I guess I'm not as bad off as I was cause I don't have the burn right now. You talk about uncomfortable. A cold was rag is the only thing that soothes it. I've tried pau d'arco lotion for the burn, I tested not to need the capsules. Last night I was around a little bit of kersene and my head started hurting, my heart started racing just more of the same. Actually I never know how I'm going to react, it's different with each toxin.

We need to find a bunch of old wool clothes that don't smell like cleaning fluid and braid our own rugs. Took a class once, had the wool once. Oh, well.

While I'm here, can anyone tell me what CoQ10 is good for?

-- Cindy (atilrthehony_1@yahoo.com), January 14, 2001.

just wondering what is CoQ10 Bob in se.ks.

-- Bobco (bobco@hit.net), January 14, 2001.

Coenzyme Q10 is produced by our bodies in decreasing amounts as we age. It is vital to normal activity of the heart, is an antioxidant and is supplemented by those who experience angina, high blood pressure, mitral valve prolapse, congestive heart failure, and other cardiovascular conditions. It has also been found useful for many people in controlling obesity, because it breaks down fat into energy, and is also useful in fighting periodontal disease.

since we are talking about a small size rug here I would hang it over the nearest sturdy fence and take the garden hose to in. It will take a while for it to dry. This may help to get of whatever is causing the problem.

CoQ10 also adds oxygen to your blood, supposed to help me sleep better, oh, well. Ed, your suggestion is a good idea, but it doesn't help me, it may Dee, though. There's formadehyde in new fabrics, and it doesn't go away easily, if at all.

Hi again.

The rug was rolled in a plastic bag. It has to be professionally cleaned. I guess that means dry cleaning. I was going to hang it outside but between the baking soda and air filter, it no longer bothers me. (I have it next to the computer so..)

Earthmama, I usually take 3000mg of Sago Palm Vit C. Sometimes more if I don't feel well. I'm allergic to garlic. I don't know what kinesiology exam is. I went to so many doctors and had so many tests, it is possible but I don't think so. I now go to a homeopathic. She put me on a formula of Colodial Silver, Ants-for enzymes, Cow liver-for Magnesium, and horsetail. I had to stop the horsetail because of allergies. My son was put on liver cleaners. Between that, getting his school to use green cleaners and his starting puberty, he is getting better fast. I know when he eats things he isn't suppose to.

Cindy, I started getting better by using the UltraClean. My Chiropractor started me on it and I went from there. How about this. Did you notice that the less junk you eat, the more you can tolerate other things. For example, perfume in church (couldn't handle that Frankensense no matter what) Since I've started eating natural and orgainic as much as possible, and I rotate foods and take my suppliments, I can handle more problem things. I still have to avoid fertilizer and pesticide aisles in stores.

Keep healthy guys! Glad to know I'm not alone. PS I go up to people with children with red cheeks and tell them my son had red cheeks and it was food allergies. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't. I wish someone had come up to me.

PLEASE NOTE: I must have forgotten to double space in my message to Cindy. So everyone please read that paragraph.

Another idea. Did you know that if you are having an allergic reaction to either food or chemical, you can drink water with baking soda in it and you will feel better? Alka Selser in the gold foil also works.

-- Dee (gdgtur@goes.com), January 14, 2001.

Dee, Applied Kinesiology is almost never done by doctors. You'll have to go to a naturopath or wholistic chiropractor. Its a way of determining allergies by testing muscle strength. Very weird when experienced the first time; but is quite effective, and way cheaper than lab tests.

Do you take acidolphilus? Have you ever had a test for your hydrocloric acid? Lots of people with food sensitivities are deficient in these digestive aids.

As for vitamin C, during hay fever season I have to take about 10 grams! I took antihistimines for years, even prescription ones when i was a kid; now all I take is C, and have no fall allergies, unless I forget to take my C.

Dee, very true about the junk food. I still have major problems but I am actually able to tolerate a few chemical smells. My chiropractor thinks it's strange that wood heat doesn't bother me. I keep telling him it's the synthetic chemicals that get me. I made a list last spring of more that 60 things that I have a reaction to and that wasn't specifics. The cleaning/soap aisle gets me, I can't tolerate Family Dollar at all, don't do well with $ Genearl or Wal- Mart either. I rotate food all the time.

Earthmama, kinesiology is cool stuff. I've proved my case more than once using it and amazed a few people too. I've seen some people wouldn't trust using it for physical and spritual reasons but mostly it's an interesting science. I've also heard it called muscle testing and was told that was a little differnet can you explain this to me.

I started taking acidolfolis a couple weeks ago. It also has a protein and bifdobacterium. The only thing I've noticed since then is that my nose is running in the mornings. Could be coincidence.

I've been working out for well over a year-again- doing muscle toning exercise-Body Electric. Last summer I got lots more exercise outside as well, but wanted to start aerobic, didn't have time, so in November I started doint Richard Simmons three times a week as well as 5 times for the other. I have great muscle mass, great posture and I'm overweight. I'm very toxic and dehydrated. So I drink lots of water, now and trying t increase it. I'm losing inches but not pounds. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I know muscle weighs more than fat, but I sure oughta be losing some fat. I eat very healthy and high fiber. Any suggestions. NOt that I haven't tried them but...

I forget to take acidolphilus because it's in the refrigerator but after my candidis was treated, I took it faithfully. I tried to take hydrocloric acid but felt ill so I stopped. I do take Bromilin and grape seed. I also know I have problems taking Vitamin B's so I don't take any more then what is in my multiple. I found I get bad night hallucinations if I take any extra. Could be that Vit B is made from mold. I don't have a problem with antibiotic though (avoid them but no problem)

I do that thing with having the suspected allergin in one hand and pull the opposite arm to see if there is a any strength.

A few months ago, my husband built a closet in our home. Everytime I went into the room I got sick to my stomach. Awful. I couldn't stand it! He got some sealer and that took care of the problem. But, since then, I cannot tolerate any body scent that smells like vanilla...and I used to love it! Strange, huh!
