I can play vcd's on my creative labs dvd drive no problem. The disc's will play with either the dvd software, vcd s/w, or even media player 7.0. But I am having trouble sending a clear signal from pc decoder to tv while playing vcd. But dvd plays awesome on tv....which was my intent anyway at time of purchase.....vcd's i make are ideal for viewing on the pc .....at work usually......try mp7.0

base on the description of your problem, something is contradictory here. duplicating a vcd to cd-r and the cd-r will function fine inside your DVD player, which means the DVD can play cd-r, OK. Now, EZ CD's 'VCD MODULE' will accept your mpeg clip without any warnings or errors and create a VCD disc for you, then your DVD player should be able to see the disc and play it as well. Furthermore, it also indicated that you have successfully encoded a 99.9% VCD2.0 compliant mpeg1 clip. On the other hand, Nero software comes with VCD module, which is unlike EZ CD (may or may not have the VCD module depending on the version you have); It will create the VCD disc for you, whether your mpeg clip is compliant or not, if you are using the 'VCD MODULE'. Now, all that's said, did you or did you not use the 'VCD MODULE' to make the VCD? drag and drop an mpeg1 file into a CD without the use of a 'VCD MODULE' is NOT creating a VCD disc. This is what is sound like you are doing. If it is so then that is why your DVD player can't see the disc as VCD....

I've been using Nero to make VCD and SVCD all the time and my stand alone units will play them all day long without any problem. What you guys are doing wrong? Take a look at the disk and see if there is a MPEGAV folder.

Recently I have also experience when the vcds I created using VideoCD Creator, successfully burned, meaning that it should be VCD compliant, does not play on a standalone VCD Player. It will play fully on the PC using Media Player. It will only play the audio on a VCD player and the picture froze at the first frame. If you fast forward, it will jump to another new frame but the picture will still freeze. That means that somehow, a defective file was accepted by the software. Normally, there should be an error message because VCD Creator is very pickey. Somehow, there must be a variant in the video stream that cause the VCD player to not play the disc. I suspect it is the capturing or editing software.

I had the same problem.First I created my AVI file video using Adobe Premiere 6 and then I converted to MPEG (MPG) using TMPGEnc.exe. Then I burned a CDRW (Memorex) using Nero5.5.9.9. Until here everything worked well. The CDRW contains all files. But my DVD player Daewoo DV-115 does not play it. It appears the first screen with the video thumbnail, but does not continue. I heard about the resolution, and that only 352x288 would play. It tried with several sizes, and it is the same result. And I also tried different conversion in TMPGEnc.exe (PAL, NSTC, etc), but nothing.
Then I tried in my computer. The player (Cybelink PowerDVD Dell) recognizes the CD as VCD (it changes the name from DVD to VDC on the screen) and show the first screen with the video. However, like in the DVD player, nothing happens.
Does someone knows what I need to do? I thank any help.

I have no answer but I do have a question. Did you ever get any help for this ? I have the Dell Movie Studio and Roxio videowave movie creator. No matter what I do I can't get a VCD to play in either of my computers. The Media Player says there's no disk in the drive.

"So if the drag and drop procedure is not correct for VCD in Nero then what is the correct method of buring a video cd to play in a stand alone player. I've tried burning music videos on cd, they work awesome on my pc but not on my Sharp DVD/Video CD Player. What am I doing wrong?... I'm selecting "Video CD", then drag and drop the tracks (mpgs) then burn. That should be it.... shouldn't it?!
