Cougars & Sheep

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

The latest stock loss, is 6-Jacob sheep, 2-Barbados ewes, 2-Pygmy goats. There is one Barby ram left, a horse and four longhorns. We caught one young Cougar in a snare, the other tow are now trap-wise. We are moving the cows, horse and ram down to my place in a couple of days, if there are any left. The guy who owns/owned this stock should be arrested and flogged n public, he did not even try to protect them. I had offered him good fenced pasture with plenty of wwaqter and shelter 6 weeks before the problem began, when the stock was getting out into the road. These poor animals have been living on air and what cedar browse they could pull off trees. Sunday someone took some hay down to them, I think they drink from puddles, there is a calf still nursing, the poor mother must have little milk for it. What a SHAME.

If food and water is not provided I would call the authorities.

If I'm understanding this posting correctly perhaps the cougars are doing these animals a favor.I'll take fast death any day over thirst and hunger.
