Encoding with Tmpegenc

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hello Friends,

I have PIII 500, 64mb ram, 20 gb hard disk and ATI AIW 32mb Capture Card. I am trying to make a pal vcd and captured in media studio 6 in mpeg1 format. The problem is when I encode it through Tmpegenc (a file which is about 50 mb in size or a three minute clip) my computer just hangs.

Can some one out there help me with this one pls.

Hi

Sometimes the machines are not capable to do the process if the size of the file to be encoded is too big.Tyr a smaller file or use a more powerful computer

your pc has more than enough power. try a different file. files can hang encoders. the file might be currupt, but its certainly not because the file is too big.

I saw this same problem once. It resulted because I had a single corrupt frame in my source AVI. Apparently TMPGEnc does handle these kinds of errors very gracefully. No biggie since it's free and it provides excellent results. I deleted that frame and everything worked fine.
