Homesteaders chat

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hey everyone,

I just found a chat room for homesteaders that I think we all will really enjoy. Actually, it found me...Lehman's sent out the email.

It at countrylife.net. Go there and register so we can all chat together!! Hope to see you all there!!!

Greenthumbeline, thanks I just registered so hope to see you on the sometime. This maybe a good site to get everyone together at one time to chat like once a week. I know that someone had tried MSN but I was never able to get in to one of the chat rooms. Hopefully others will have input on this. Thanks again and God Bless.

Great idea! I never liked MSN due to all the cookies. Never felt private.

Anyone care to set a time to meet on the chat? Every time I go in there I am the only one there.

Setting a time is a good idea, I have never found anyone there either. It might be a fun thing to do some evening.

Hi Greenthumbelina..I am registered with Lehmans but haven't got back in to the chats yet..tried a "chat room" in my local ISP and wow..must have hit a near porno room..the names should have given me a hint!! Have been very leery of chat rooms..except for a garden one I have stayed out of them..but would give Lehmans a try..maybe see you all there!

There's people there right now, 8:30 CST. I think it's hard to read the screen there though. I much prefer talkcity.

You do not have to register to get into the chat room. I didn't. Just went to www.countryliving.net, and clicked where it said to enter the chat room. You only have to register if you want to use the forums, apparently. When you click on the chat room, it asks you to put in a nickname, and then in you go.

If you want to use TalkCity, go to www.talkcity.com, register or not (up to you, you can go in as a guest), click on chat, when it asks you if you know where you want to go, enter homestead, click go. I set that "room" up when I was experiment to see if I could. You're free to use it. The screens are much easier to read, you can make your text different colors, you can put in smilies, etc.

How did you guys get to register in countrylife.net? The only screen I could get was for members, with no other options and no way to move down the screen. Appreciate any answers!

Go to the home page, click on the chat room, a blank screen comes up that sometimes takes a minute to load. You type in what you want to enter as, I use gardia, and then click on the enter button. There is no registration involved. Hope that helps. - diane

I went to the site, and entered the chat room. The area that you write the message is apparently below my screen and could not"chat". Anyone else have that problem?
