Steve, Delaware County has real cheap land and only 2 1/2 hours from the city. I am also looking at land in upstate NY try www.Americancountryrealty.com

You may want to look at land in Sullivan County, New York. The western part of the county is beautiful. We have a big performing arts center coming up here (at the old 1969 Woodstock site in Bethel, NY) as well as lots of piece and quiet. If you like fishing and hiking, Roscoe and Livingston Manor, NY are lovely places. If you are interested and want to consult a realtor, contact me for a name. Delaware County is another nice option, although a bit further from NYC.
